Please tell us who you are and what you do at NAKEDCASHMERE?

I’m Andrew. Aka @skullcashmere. I am the chief marketing officer at 360CASHMERE. I’m responsible for overseeing the planning, development and execution of an our marketing and advertising initiatives. I ensure our message and voice is distributed across multiple customer channels and to targeted audiences in order to meet our sales objectives.

How did you discover your passion for music and when did you start making your own?

I was raised by two hippies with an epic vinyl collection of all the greats so I was rocking from the womb! Growing up, I was always attending concerts and scouting new music so by the time I moved to New York, my first job was in the music industry. I started with a job at digital distribution company The Orchard, assisting on the management team of The Raveonettes. Afterwards, I was named NYC Program Director for MESS Music Marketing, creating brand events at downtown NY clubs. DJ AM encouraged me to try DJing based on my love of breaking new artists and my pulse on NY nightlife, so I practiced daily at a friend’s nightclub until I DJ'd throughout the NY nightlife scene. With a move to LA, plus international touring I kept the music flowing coast to coast, continent to continent. Nowadays, I rock a lot of notable brand and corporate events and I always love a good rager like spinning for NYFW with NAKEDCASHMERE!

What's your favorite part about being a DJ?

I love bringing people together for the best part of their day. There is something so fulfilling about having my job revolve around soundtracking someone’s "fun”—letting their hair down after life’s daily work demands. Generally, when I am DJing people are happy and enjoying a great time with friends and drinks in a cool ambiance; I can’t ask for more than that in a job! I also love how my ‘office’ and ‘co-workers’ are always changing—no two gigs are the same so it always keeps it interesting!

How do you keep balance between family and career?

Luckily these days my DJ career is more quality over quantity. When I first started DJing, much of my job was in nightlife so I was spinning at clubs late night (sometimes 2 a night) going into the morning hours, which was super taxing and not sustainable but paired well with that time in my life. Now with having a family I love that most of my gigs are more corporate, high-end events, so I am not working as long nor very late events which affords me a greater balance of work and home life. What’s extra amazing is that because many gigs are late afternoon/evening and spread out… I still have ample mommy/daughter time!

What inspires you the most?

Personally, my husband Kevin Brennan. Kevin is such a great partner and dad, and I’m especially excited watching his soar with passion in Real Estate after 18 years in fashion/denim industry. Neither of us have ever regretted our career adventures; I also took the plunge from the corporate music world to performing artist DJing— and now I’ve expanded my resume as a certified Sommelier. During this pandemic, I have begun consulting as a Digital Media Strategy Partner with a celebrity publicist. I love how Kevin & I both keep pushing each other to tackle new dreams… his recent transition really helped me move forward! My parents of course always inspire me with their dedication to their careers in education and race relations and their incredible support to our family.

Professionally, I love following along with Lady Gaga. I have had the pleasure of working with her during the Victoria’s Secret Paris Fashion show at which we both performed. She is super rad in person but, even before I worked with her I have always felt a kindred spirit as a fellow Italian who spent a decade in NY in the downtown scene and her constant hustle and pushing of the envelop. She is always trying new things but is humble in her ability to talk so openly about about her struggles. Being so truthful to herself and her brand has always inspired me!

What is something you're most proud of that you've accomplished in your career?

I moved from Boston to New York without knowing a soul and then launched my DJ career with no safety net during a time when female DJs were practically non-existent (12 years ago) and essentially was self taught. I hustled hard for my career and have done everything by my gut instinct without an agent or booker. I have toured the world, played with some incredible talent, worked with hundreds of my favorite brands like NC, and managed to maintain this as a full time career for over a decade all while continuing to evolve and expand my reach into so many new areas.

What is your idea of selfcare?

I think self care is SO important for everyone and especially as a mom. In order to be your best self plus take care of others, you need to be kind to yourself and know how to treat yourself like the queen that you are! I love giving myself facials, cooking healthy delicious meals, working out, date nights with my hubby and meditating. A great glass of wine at the end of a long day alway does the trick and of course treating myself to some NAKEDCASHMERE when something new and fabulous catches my eye!

Do you have a daily routine that keeps you in check?

I would say my toddler has a daily routine that keeps me in check! ha! But, I also always start my day with a latte and a Bar Method workout to jump start the good vibes. I crush a LOT of work during her naps and I am always researching new music. My daughter London is currently obsessed with Madonna so we are always having dance parties!

What is your go to weeknight meal? And favorite weekend treats?

I am a crazy foodie and I love to cook so I am always trying new recipes. Most days I heavily follow a Paleo based diet (minus red meat) so we rely on a lot of veggies, fruits and lean proteins. I try and get creative so that ‘health’ food turns into something that's totally delicious. In the summer we just throw everything on the grill, but I love to experiment with Asian cuisine —especially Thai—and as an Italian I make meatballs almost every week (my daughter is obsessed). Usually once a week I give into all my cravings which almost always includes Pizza and Soft Serve! (I especially love a NY style pepperoni pizza). I’m a sucker for baked goods as well and I’ve made some great gluten free vegan style muffins and breads and desserts!

How would you describe your personal style?

Rock n’ Roll Chic. I love the color black, so much of my wardrobe follows suit: I really like elevated basics which I dress up with vivid accessories like stand out handbags, fun sunglasses and layered jewelry.

Who is your style icon?

I love Kate Moss’s style of cool basics and leopard prints, Alison Mosshart’s (from The Kills) effortless rock n’roll vibes and Gwen Stefani’s spunky flair at every stage and age!

Story about a man & his dog, both in cashmere

During these uncertain times when we have little control, it is save to say that our pets have been our salvation. While we spend our days in quarantine in our homes, our pets have been on the receiving end of a little extra love from us, a few more snuggles and couple of extra treats. We appreciate them more then ever for being our buddy, our support system and most important family member while we practice social distancing from other humans.

Well this story is no different, it is about a man, Andrew Gifford our Chief Marketing Officer and his dog Chunk, Chief Bark Officer. We sit down with Andrew & Chunk to get their take on how they spend their days in quarantine, their favorite cashmere and what is the first thing they will do when this is all over.

What is your daily routine in quarantine with Chunk?

Chunk is an expert quarentiner. He was built for times like this.

8:30a We wake up. I spend about 20 minutes saying good morning to Chunk. It’s important he gets the appropriate amount of snuggles and love before we start the day.

The day officially starts when the food hits Chunks bowl. It’s like when the military plays the bugle. I make a pot of coffee and put on a one of my NAKEDCASHMERE outfits and prepare for our morning walk. Once chunk finishes his breakfast, I let him digest while I finish my coffee so he can have a good poop on our morning walk.

Chunk is a creature of habit. Same spot every day. He takes his peeps at the little gardens outside of the building and once he finishes kicks his feet and covers the sidewalk in gravel. Immediately after his pees, as long as its not raining, he scoots over to Varick (around the corner) and takes his poop. He likes a view and reading a newspaper, always faces the Holland tunnel so he can watch the cars go by as he does his business. After he is finished, we proceed back upstairs and I officially start my day.

I play some music and clean my house and make my bed. I then check my calendar and make sure I’m prepared for all of the calls and meetings I have for the day. I make a checklist of things I have to do for the day and my goals. Its important to stay motivated and not slack off. Its easy to get distracted and put on the tv and return to whatever tv show I’m watching. I set enough time throughout the day to be creative, whether its finding inspo on Pinterest for our next photoshoot or sketching pictures of chunk in different positions on the coach. It is important to me to keep my brain stimulated.

6:00p I end my day around and set aside an hour to work out. I have a peloton and an abs machine and I do 30 mins on each. I look to come out of quarantine in tip top shape. For dinner, I usually cook or order in. I try and stay on a low carb diet and find it extremely hard to do so when there are so many options for delivery. I watch the news and read my favorite blogs to keep up with current events. I then feed Chunk dinner, take him out for his evening pees and head back inside to get ready for bed. I turn on my favorite show, crank out a couple of episodes, facetime my family then go to bed

What type of music are you listening to?

I’m currently listening to a lot of indie and 90s rock. The low tempo keeps me motivated and keeps me from losing my sanity. Here is a link! https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5WcaZvLiXD7nYhg2bBBNBd?si=nX11QdHuQb2kdkzUc6mHmQ

How are you keeping busy?

Spending a lot of time with chunk. I’m learning to cook but I am quickly realizing that I’m better at creating messes than actually cooking. I also am starting to read which isn’t something I haven’t done in quite some time. I’m currently reading Shoe dog- a memoir by Phil knight

What are the latest updates from the NAKEDCASHMERE store?

No update. Until we can see the light at the end of the tunnel we have to keep the stores closed for the safety and health of our customers and our employees.
